The use of online shopping sites is increasing day by day after demonetization in India. Most of the people prefer buying things online rather than going to shops as the products will be delivered at your doorstep with easy return policy which also saves huge time.

1.Amazon 

Amazon is a leading E-commerce giant founded on July 5, 1994, by Jeff Bezos in Seattle, Washington, USA. According to the statistics, amazon is the world’s largest online retailer in the world based on its total sales and market capitalization. They began with selling books online, later started selling DVDs, CDs, Blu-rays, MP3 downloads/streaming, audiobook downloads/streaming, video downloads/streaming, software, video games, furniture, electronics, apparel, toys, food and jewellery.

Now their footprints are in 13 countries excluding the USA. Amazon.in in India receives around 10 million visitors per month approximately.

2.Flipkart 

Flipkart is one of the leading e-commerce company in India headquartered in Bangalore, Karnataka. It was founded by Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal in 2007. Initially, they launched their own products like USB, Tablets and Laptop bags in the name of DigiFlip.

Approximately 5 million users hitting Flipkart website per month for online shopping and its recently acquired Myntra, Jabong.com PhonePe.

3.Snapdeal 

Snapdeal is now one of the largest marketplace in India founded on 4 February 2010  by Kunal Bahl in New Delhi, India.  It was started like daily deal platform, then expanded as an online marketplace in 2011.Snapdeal has recently acquired freecharge.com a mobile payment gateway company and Reduce Data a programmatic display advertising platform.  Snapdeal approximately receives 5 million visitors per month.

Paytm is an India’s biggest mobile payment service and e-commerce platform founded on 2010 by One97 Communications. Their Paytm Wallet is widely used mobile payment service platform in India. In the beginning, they started with mobile recharging, bill payment and some e-commerce products similar to Flipkart and  Amazon.  Recently the usage of the Paytm payment service App extremely increased due to demonetization of high denomination currency notes. Jabong is an Indian Lifestyle e-commerce site headquartered in Gurgaon,NCR. It was founded by Praveen Sinha,Lakshmi Potluri and Arun Chandra Mohan. The fashion portal sells home accessories, beauty products, footwear, fashion accessories, apparels and other lifestyle products. In 2013, Jabong was one of the most visited e-commerce sites shipping nearly 6000-7000 orders a day. In 2016, this e-store was acquired for $70 Million by Myntra which is a subsidiary of Flipkart.

6.Ebay

Ebay is an American multinational e-commerce company founded by Pierre Omidyar in 1995. It is now a million-dollar business providing both consumer-to-consumer and business-to-consumer sales in over 30 countries. Its headquarters is in San Jose, California. The site offers online auction services and also sells variety of products worldwide. Ebay also facilitated online money transfers via PayPal which was under its acquisition from 2002-2014. In 2005, Ebay acquired Skype Technologies but sold a major stake of Skype in 2009 which was then completely brought under Microsoft.

Myntra is a Bangalore-based e-commerce fashion marketplace founded in 2007 by IIT graduates. It was initially started with an intention to personalize the gift items. Later they moved their focus to online retailing in 2010. In 2014, Myntra marked its emergence with Flipkart holding a high portfolio including nearly 1.5L products of over 1000 brands. Its business operations are made through the Myntra Designs Pvt. Limited which also owns many fashion brands. In July 2016, Myntra acquired Jabong with a view to establish itself as a leading online fashion platform.

Shopclues is an online retailing site founded by Radhika Aggarwal, Sandeep Aggarwal and Sanjay Sethi in 2011. Its headquarters is in Gurgaon, India. It is a subsidiary of Clues Network Inc. which is  a US corporation. Shopclues is valued at nearly $1.1 billion handling approximately 2 million transactions serving more than 42 million visitors per year. The company currently makes 100 crore annual revenue and has focused to make 30 lakh transactions in its near future.

9.FashionAndYou

FashionAndYou is a popular flash website in fashion and luxury space headquartered in Gurgaon, India. It started as a members-only online shopping club which later moved on to establish its business in flash sales. The portal offers sales on fashion and lifestyle categories including handbags, footwear, apparels, cosmetics, fragrances and home accessories.
